Brian and Charity, parents of twelve kids (ten at home), live in the beautiful mountains near Yosemite National Park. Brian is self-employed and works with his children. Moving from the corporate world (GE Capital and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage) to self-employment, he embraced the vision of discipleship at home, working, homeschooling and serving with his family. Charity has a passion for directing people to love Jesus MORE, and see families grow in freedom as they raise their family to serve the Lord. Together, along with their children (ages five to twenty-seven), in 2010 (accounted through Dec 2014), have served in teams that have shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Philippines to over 164,446 people, starting 1402 Bible Studies and planting 86 churches. (Though the mission teams have continues, we stopped counting after 2014).
Now, they are excited to share their experiences, so that others (including families) can delight and participate in advancing the Kingdom to see first hand how God's Word does not return void.
There is fear that in the United States, we may potentially face dark times politically, socially, economically. We believe that as Christians there is an opportunity that we can bless and effect our community around us become even brighter lights in the darkness! The Philippines has been a great exposure and training ground for that preparation. Each time we see God do miracles in our midst AND now we have faith for Him to do it here in the USA as well! Hallelujah! We can testify that He's the same yesterday, today and forever! Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost and to set the captives free! Be sure to check out our testimonies page here: http://thehomegrownfam.weebly.com/testimonies.html. For the next several months we will strategically be preparing to go on a Philippines Missions trip because "the field is ready and ripe for harvest" Luke 10:2.
As a Christian, homeschooling family, our curriculum includes the preparation of the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are focused and intentional of our time of training and preparing.
Next year, is an incredible opportunity to minister overseas has opened up and our family has accepted the offer to go. We will lead a team to the Philippines where the need and the opportunity is as great as ever. The US team will work with a well established Filipino team, and a number of local pastors in the Mindoro Oriental Island. Last year our team experienced a great harvest of people responding to the Lord on the Island of Luzon. One year our team preached and ministered to over 21,000 people and witnessed over 19,000 visible responses to follow Jesus in just 3 weeks. Fourteen new churches services in started because of our outreaches and are now established. No one but God could measure internal responses accurately but external responses were visibly strong.
We are asking our friends and family to partner with us in this opportunity. The reports of the hunger of the gospel there are much like what Jesus said “a field ripe for harvest.” This year’s team went into the public schools where they were invited to freely share the Gospel in every classroom and have entire school assemblies just to hear the message of Jesus! Teachers begged for more Bibles for friends after each student and teacher were given a Bible. Fifty-six new Bible studies were started. This year we plan the same type of outreaches and more!
The Island of Mindoro Oriental is very strategic and is a stronghold of the enemy. Other teams from the states who work with this ministry have experienced problems this year raising support. The economy has made it more difficult to answer the call and some teams have diminished in size because of these fund raising difficulties. That makes our task even greater. We have been asked to do additional outreaches because of the shortage of laborers in the harvest and we have said yes. We believe God will provide where he calls.
Because most people have never heard an adequate presentation of the gospel of Jesus we go with a great opportunity to reach the lost. Our work is in small villages where the harvest is truly plentiful and the fruit is ripe for the harvest. Our last trip in Winter 2017 all we impacted areas that were <1% Christian population. Our team will be busy with extensive outreaches including drama, concerts, door-to-door evangelism, jail and public school assemblies. We also help launch essential follow-up work the next day so new believers can plug into existing churches or together start new ones. We meet with city officials to pray for those in positions of authority. There is no separation of Church and state there so our team will almost always be welcomed to hold Bible studies with those in the government buildings. On weekends most of the team members will preach at a local church. We will be preaching a Gospel message too! As with any other mission trip we are learning to expect the unexpected and will be flexible accordingly.
We are asking our friends and family to consider supporting this effort in serious prayer and giving. The experience has consistently been for every $100 given 25 people respond openly to the invitation to follow Christ! Your investment into spreading the Gospel through this ministry opportunity is a sound one with proven and measured results. This work in God’s harvest field is established with a well-designed follow-up and church planting strategy that makes this partnership even more vital and effective. Even in these tough economic times your help of any kind will make a huge difference in many lives. Many will hear and respond to the gospel because of your giving.
Here is how you could help. First and foremost we desire your prayers. We are looking for people who would covenant with us to fast and/or pray for the outreach before and during the time we are there. The people are both very poor and very receptive to the Gospel. Last year, during the outreaches, some remarkable visible answers to prayer occurred. Because of answers to prayer new churches immediately started with a local minister ready to step in to pastor them. They are in extreme poverty materially but their spiritual receptiveness more than compensates for it.
Second, we ask those who can to consider supporting us financially. The costs have increased some this year because of rising fuel and airfare prices. We also leave in February during busy price travel times. We need to raise enough to pay for airfare, ministry and living expenses while there. The trip planned will be two weeks in the Philippines. The cost is $1500/person plus airfare depending. We have committed to go and will be stepping by faith to purchase the tickets. If you can help please check out our DONATE page. Truly, EVERY gift of any size is deeply appreciated. Details for a TAX DEDUCTIBLE gift are available on our DONATE page. Jesus builds His kingdom on the widow’s sacrificial two mites. We leave in February 2018 so the earlier the gift the better. Then we know where our needs fall.
THANK YOU for taking the time to read through our website. We covet your prayers, encouragement and support.
